What Made Them Haute: Entrepreneurs, television personalities, models and socialites, the Kardashians are a celebrity self-branding success story. The fifth season premiere of E!’s Keeping Up with the Kardashians boasted record ratings for the network, averaging nearly 4.7 million total viewers. And recently, the Kardashian clan plus Bruce Jenner received the honorable key to the city from Beverly Hills Mayor Jimmy Delshad.
What Makes Them Haute Now: Although Kim and Kourtney have temporarily fled the sunny West Coast to film their new reality show spin-off, Kim and Kourtney Take New York, in Manhattan, Los Angeles is still keeping up with the Kardashians. The sisters kept haute in New York City Wednesday night donning chic fall looks for the grand opening of Dash NYC. In all black everything, Kim sparkled in her signature style, a glamorous figure-hugging dress, while Khloe took to sophistication in a matronly belted turtleneck dress and pumps, and big sister Kourtney, who stepped up as a fashion-maven, dolled up sporting a cropped jacket with an oversized bow from the new boutique, leopard print heels and top-knot bun. The E! cameras were rolling as hundreds of fans flooded the SoHo street to get a glimpse of the stylish trio as the brunettes posed for pictures on the red carpet, then retreated inside the store to sip Champagne with family and friends, including Scott Disick, Kanye West, Adrienne Bailon, Jonathan Cheban, Simon Huck and Loren Ridinger. The opening of the Kardashian’s third DASH boutique will be featured on Kim and Kourtney Take New York when the show airs on E! in January 2011.
The matriarch of the family, Kris Jenner, took to Twitter to express enthusiasm for her daughters’ opening, writing, “Big night tonite twitterfan! Dash NYC opens tonite!!!! Woooooohooooo!!!!” Meanwhile, Kim thanked the fans that showed up, Tweeting, “’Thank u to all of our amazing fans who came out to support @DashNYC u really mean the world to me and my sisters! U are the reason we exist!’ and Khloe, who left hubby Lakers player Lamar Odom to attend the opening celebration, added to the Kardashian Tweet craze writing, “Can’t believe the turn out tonight! I say this all of the time, I count my blessing everyday and I am forever grateful! I love you forever!”
Back in California, Kendall Jenner is busy keeping up with her elder sisters. Fifteen-year-old Jenner recently made an appearance in her first music video for One Call’s “Blacklight.”
