Valentino Santa Monica Announces White Truffle Piemontese Evening with Dogliani Wines

On Dec. 6, Valentino Santa Monica will celebrate the bounty of white truffle season with a special dinner. This unforgettable experience will give guests the opportunity to indulge in a seven-course meal created by Executive Chef Nico Chessa paired with Dogliani wines. The gourmet menu is priced at $200.

The Valentino Santa Monica dining rooms provide for the ultimate intimate experience, and the legendary wine cellar holds more than 2,500 selections of wine. Owner Piero Selvaggio has been in business for more than 37 years and Valentino was awarded the No. 1 of the top three restaurants in the country by Wine Spectator in 1995 and No. 1 by Ruth Reichl, a former restaurant critic for the New York Times.

First Course: Stuzzichini Gavi 2009

Second Course: Beef tartare with quail egg, ricotta, spuma and truffles with a 2008 Barbera.

Third Course: Tortino of Porcini, truffles and fonduta with a 2008 Barbera d‚Alba, Cru Sovrana.

Fourth Course: Soft egg filled Raviolo, hazelnut butter and truffles with a 2006 Barbaresco.

Fifth Course: Tagliolini with pigeon ragù.

Sixth Course: Slow-braised beef shank with polenta and a 2005 Castelmagno Barolo.

Seventh Course: Italian artisan cheeses with truffled honey and a 2003 Barolo La Briccolina.

Dessert: Hazelnut-chocolate cake with Moscato.
