Moscow Visitors Speaking Their Mind: Tourists Rank the Best Hotels in Russian Capital

One of the largest travel communities in the world TripAdvisor has published a new rating of Moscow hotels. The list is based on the opinions of real travelers coming to the Russian capital and includes 182 Moscow hotels.

Radisson Royal Hotel Moscow is ranked No. 1. This renovated hotel, formerly named Ukraine, only reopened in April this year, and according to TripAdviser it’s the best place to stay whether you are on a private or business visit. Developers have invested $575 million in its purchase and renovation. This premium hotel is located in one of the seven Stalin skyscrapers and it has its own river fleet.

Second place in the ranking is The Savoy Hotel Moscow. Also on the list: third, Swissotel Krasnye Holmy; fourth, Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow; fifth, Marriott Royal Aurora Hotel; sixth, Golden Apple Boutique Hotel; seventh, Renaissance Moscow Monarch Centre Hotel; eighth, Hotel Baltschug Kempinski Moscow; ninth, Ritz-Carlton. The last in the top 10 hotels is another renovated Stalin skyscraper, the Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya, which was actually the first Hilton hotel to appear in Russia. The Hilton empire has announced expansion plans for Russia with around 20 new hotels operating under the famous brand to be built across country in the near future.

The Russian capital Moscow has, for the third year running, been rated as the city with the world’s priciest hotels. But despite high prices and a strict visa regime, the tourist flow to the capital is gradually increasing. According to the Tourism Committee of Moscow, in the first six months of 2010 tourist traffic in the Russian capital increased by 18,4 percent compared to the same period in the previous year, amounting to 1.87 million people.
