Uptown’s Salon 2122 Makes the Cut

I go to four different places for my individual needs. Skin care (i.e. facials, waxing), hair coloring, hair cutting, and nail care (so few places can file the perfect “squoval” shape.) Considering I live in the Big D, I don’t have a problem finding the best to fulfill my beauty whims. However, I recently discovered Uptown’s Salon 2122, situated in a little quaint house on Boll Street, which made me second guess my multi-destination makeovers.

Previously The Salons at the House at Fairmount, Salon 2122 celebrated their official grand opening on a Friday evening in late June, although most of their stylists have long been employed there. Deeva Hargett, however, joined forces with the salon only a couple months back, a hair stylist and performance makeup artist who created her own makeup line, Stage Cosmetics, four years ago. The line was sold in Oscar Fierro’s boutique in Mockingbird Station before it closed, and Hargett is now launching her “Red Carpet Fashion Collection” for summer.

First of all, I never agree to get my makeup done, which puts me in a very low percentile here in Dallas. Ever since I got the prom pictures back and thought I looked eerily similar to Guy Pearce in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, I have sworn to paint my own visage. However, it didn’t take much convincing for Hargett to sit me down at Salon 2122 and doll me up with her collection of photo-ready foundations, eyeshadows and lipsticks. The photo below (not me, btw) includes her “Flirt” lipstick, “Allure” blush and “Black Magic”. “Starry Night” and “Pink Sky” eyeshadows, all from the red carpet collection. The products range from $9 to around $75, which include pre-packaged kits for various kinds of stage performers or social divas.

Looking for top-notch colorists, hair stylists or dermatologists? Salon 2122 has you covered there too.
