MARIE ANTOINETTE’S HEAD AT BARTON G. LA
This towering cotton candy pompadour, made with yesteryear candies, and a Bananas Foster “shake” as well as vanilla panna cotta, gianduja brownie, caramelized banana cream and Chantilly cream is a total crowd-pleaser. But then, Barton G. IS the most Instagrammable restaurant in Los Angeles—each and every dish is photo-worthy, from a mouse trap that encases mac ‘n cheese to a plethora of dry ice cocktails to their latest dessert, El Cubanito: luxurious café caramel flan with tobacco laced gianduja chocolate cigars, guava pastelitos, and café con leche sauce.

We’re not going to lie: the pawn shop entrance and the Instagram station in the ladies toilet totally make Beauty & Essex the most Instagrammed place in L.A., but if we had to choose a dish to snap, snap, snap, it would be these beauties—grilled cheese dumplings served in a bed of creamy bacon-tomato soup.
LITERALLY ANYTHING (AS LONG A THERE’S AN OCEAN VIEW IN THE BACKGROUND) AT NOBU MALIBU
Like we said, anything goes. But seriously, Nobu Matsuhisa serves up some of the best sushi anywhere in the world, so if you can, go with that to make your friends jealous.
BUT FIRST, COFFEE AT ALFRED COFFEE
Espresso, latte, cappuccino and repeat. Whatever you get at this Melrose Place hangout, make sure you’re getting the “But First, Coffee” sign in the background. It’s essential.
MIX N’ MATCH ICE CREAM COOKIE SANDWICHES FROM COOLHAUS
Coolhaus is a rare treat, because every guest can choose to invent their own concoction. Pick a cookie (Fruity Pebbles and marshmallow, confetti, coffee cake whoopie pie, and more) and an ice cream (balsamic fig & mascarpone, bananas foster, blueberry sweet corn, fried chicken and waffles… the list is endless, and weirdly wonderful) and be both creator and taster at the same time. Either way, you’ll leave happy.
CANNABIS COCKTAILS AT GRACIAS MADRE
Gracias Madre, an epic plant-based eatery in West Hollywood, was the first restaurant in L.A. to use CBD in their cocktails, and use it in a visual way that Instagram-users couldn’t ignore. The Sour T-iesel is served is the most photographed, thanks to its pot leaf, matcha floating atop aquafaba foam.
BIRDIES DONUTS
The glorious fried chicken and donut joint that is Birdie’s serves up fab and unusual donut confections, like this $45 gold-covered donut, as well as a horchata twist with dulce de leche and a candied bacon maple affair that’s just amazing.
GOLD PIZZA AT RAY’S AND STARK BAR
It’s not surprising that this gold-flaked visual creation is located at Ray’s and Stark Bar at LACMA‘s eatery: it’s an $89 work of art. For the price, you should absolutely savor this delicious pie made of fior di latte, sottocenere al tartufo, robiolona, san giacomo 25 year aged balsamico that is liberally topped with gold.
MILK & HONEY ICE CREAM SANDWICH AT NOMAD HOTEL LOS ANGELES
Take a beloved N.Y. institution, two beloved N.Y. chefs in Daniel Humm and Will Guidara and one beloved dish, add in some new and unusual L.A. stylings and voila! you’ve got the Insta-worthy Milk & Honey ice cream sandwich at the Nomad Hotel L.A.
THE MILLIONAIRE’S BAGEL AT REPUBLIQUE
The best news ever: you don’t have to be rich to show off this breakfast delicacy, made with Kaluga caviar, smoked salmon, cream cheese, and fines herbs on a housemade sesame bagel that’s topped with gold flakes.
CANDY-COLORED MACARONS AT BOTTEGA LOUIE
We dare you to walk past Bottega Louie and walk away without snapping a photo of their macaron case. Triple doggy dare you, in fact.
RAINBOW GRILLED CHEESE AT CHOMP EATERY & JUICE STATION
The unicorn craze is here to stay, at least for awhile, if the plethora of rainbow grilled cheese shots dominating Instagram is any indication. Plus, as an adult, it’s the one time you’ll actually be allowed to play with your food, because anything for a photo, right?
