One of San Francisco’s most high profile power couples, Alexis and Trevor Traina, are leaving the Bay Area. In January, President Donald Trump selected Trevor as his nominee for the United States ambassador to Austria position. The Senate approved the nomination and last Thursday, Trevor was sworn in as the ambassador in the Traina’s Pacific Heights’ living room.
In an Instagram post his wife, Alexis, said “over the next few weeks we pack up and leave behind a sweet life of family, friends, community, and familiarity and move abroad to represent the people of the United States. It is our deepest desire to make republicans, independents and democrats proud. We look forward to sharing the beauty, magic, and creative spirit of the American culture. We will miss so much, and so many—and look forward to this amazing journey.” No word on what will happen with Traina’s SF-based tech company, IfOnly, when the family moves, but working remotely could be an option.

Traina’s grandfather, Wiley Buchanan, was the ambassador to Austria from 1975 to 1977. There is a chance that the Trainas could live in the same Viennese house that Buchanan occupied in the 1970s. The couple’s Napa home was recently featured in Vogue magazine and they are widely regarded as the some of the city’s top entertainers. When celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow come to town, the Trainas are pretty likely to hang out with them. Their special brand of hospitality will now charm Vienna’s elite.
