Marcela Valladolid Dishes on Where to Dine in San Diego
San Diego is one of our favorite weekend escapes for the simple fact that it’s gorgeous, on the ocean and very close to L.A. It’s also a city that’s quickly becoming a favorite for Los Angeles foodies thanks to a plethora of new and amazing restaurants. The only problem: narrowing down your selection and making a choice.
Cue Chef Marcela Valladolid, TV host of The Food Network’s The Kitchen, who also happens to be a San Diego native.
Valladolid, who still resides in San Diego, began her professional career as a food editor for Bon Appetit Magazine. Her first television show was Relatos Con Sabor for Discovery en Español and she published her first book, Fresh Mexico, in 2009. She hosted her second show, Mexico Made Easy, for the Food Network in 2010 and released a companion book, Mexico Made Easy, in 2011. She is also responsible for her own line of self-named food products, launched in partnership with Safeway. She is the only celebrity to have her own branded food line sold exclusively nationwide at the recently merged Safeway/Albertson stores (with distribution in 1,200+ stores) She also has her own line of organic Tequila, Hacienda de la Flor.
Valladolid took a break from writing her third book to reveal her favorite San Diego area eateries—and which dishes you should definitely order should you go.
