The Effects Of Chronic Sun Exposure Are Not Hot – Here’s How To Reverse Them

This year, like most, the summertime sun was hot. What is not hot, well, those are the effects of chronic sun exposure mixed with aging.  Haute Beauty expert Dr. Omar A. Ibrahimi has seen tons of patients at Connecticut Skin Institute who are unamused by the hyperpigmentation, sun spots, and wrinkles that have dominated their faces. Thankfully, for most, the summer months are behind us, and the fall leaves and slight chill in the air are in front of us because with the summertime sun, Dr. Ibrahimi would not be able to perform the two most requested skin tightening and resurfacing procedures to date: Ellacor and Fraxel.

Ellacor for Skin Tightening

Ellacor, recently FDA-approved, is an entirely new class of skin tightening treatment for moderate to severe wrinkles in the mid to lower face. The treatment takes advantage of the scientific concept of Micro-Coring, which basically removes thousands of tiny micro-sized cylinders of skin each session allowing one to tighten the skin in a similar fashion to a face-lift, but without the surgery, risk of general anesthesia and evidence of scarring. Currently, Connecticut Skin Institute is one of the first practices to have this technology worldwide, and the results have been quite impressive.

Fraxel for Laser Skin Surfacing

Looking to reverse the signs of aging and effectively repair skin damage? The Fraxel laser is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive laser treatment that is ideal for individuals who want their skin to look younger and blemish-free without the side effects of a surgical facelift or just a more aggressive laser procedure.

Laser skin resurfacing rejuvenates the skin in many ways. In a process known as “controlled wound healing,” microscopic laser columns warm the deeper layers of skin with thermal energy to create microscopic injuries. While these microscopic injuries are superficial, they still trigger the skin’s healing mechanisms. The body responds to the treatment by producing new cells to resurface the skin and stimulating collagen production, which repairs UV damage, brown spots, hyperpigmentation and more. Ideal candidates are typically patients in their 40-70s with sun-damaged skin.

If you are wanting to rid yourself of the sun's side effects, book a consultation today with Dr. Omar A. Ibrahimi at Connecticut Skin Institute to learn which treatment is best for you.
