You may recognize Nina Dobrev for her projects on the big and small screens, but did you know the 32-year-old actress also used to be a personal trainer? The fitness-loving celebrity experienced a major career jump, but perhaps that transition helped Dobrev alter her workout routine during the pandemic.
“One of the things that I realized when the pandemic started was that... [I] relied on a lot of outside sources for my fitness — especially because I used to be so busy traveling and working,” Dobrev told Shape. “But once I was home, I realized I didn't have much [gym equipment] at home so I went into a mad dash.”

Converting a room in her Hollywood residence into a home gym, Dobrev slowly accumulated equipment to keep her active from home: weights, a Pilates machine, a NordicTrack Treadmill and a SoulCycle at-home-bike. “When I'm done shooting and I have to memorize the next day's work, I can sit on the bike with my script and exercise, and learn my lines for the next day,” she said.
Though the actress feels “really proud” of her home gym, Dobrev recognized the equipment — such as the treadmill or stationary bike — she splurged on could put a dent in someone’s budget. Recently, she partnered with the financial company Affirm, which allows customers to instantly purchase items and pay later based on a chosen plan. “It gives consumers the flexibility to shop for things that they want, need, and can pay for overtime on their own terms without any late or hidden fees,” she said.
Enjoying luxury while preserving one’s budget and fitness routine, Dobrev never fails to inspire us.
