Get ready to pucker up, because we're talking about the hottest trend in the beauty world: lip blushing. This semi-permanent makeup technique has taken the beauty world by storm and promises to give you luscious lips that last for years. No more smudging or reapplying lipstick throughout the day, just a flawless pout that will have you feeling like a million bucks. But before you book your appointment with Haute Beauty experts at The Biltmore Spa, let's dive into what you can expect during the process and how to care for your newly enhanced lips.
Type of Pigment
At the Biltmore Spa, we use inks that are thoroughly tested to eliminate micros, heavy metals, amines, PAHs, regulated preservatives, and other forbidden substances to ensure they are completely REACH compliant. Additionally, our inks are vegan and cruelty-free to animals. We prioritize the safety and satisfaction of our clients, and we take measures to ensure that our pigments are of the highest quality and safety standards.
Sessions Needed
The number of sessions required for lip blushing can vary from client to client, depending on the initial color of the lips and whether any color correction is needed. In general, most clients require 2 to 3 sessions (2-3 hours each) to achieve their desired results. However, some clients may require additional sessions if they have darker or hyperpigmented lips, or if they want a more dramatic color change. During the initial consultation, we can assess the individual needs of each client and recommend a personalized treatment plan based on their goals and skin type.

Longevity
The longevity of lip blushing can vary from person to person, but on average, it can last between 2-3 years with proper care. Additional touch-ups may be necessary to maintain the desired color and shape. We recommend scheduling a touch-up appointment 5-6 weeks after the initial appointment to allow for the healing process to complete. The healing process can vary from person to person, but typically takes around 40-45 days for the pigment color to settle in and the skin to fully heal before the touch-up can be done.
Post-Treatment Care
To ensure the best results for your lip blushing, we recommend following these post-procedure care instructions:
- Apply ice to your lips for 10-15 minutes at a time, using an ice pack or an ice cube covered in a thin cloth. This will help reduce swelling, itching, bruising, and any other pain. You can do this for the first 24-48 hours after the procedure.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and activities that may cause excessive sweating for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure.

Healing Expectations
After your lip blushing session, your lips will go through several stages of the healing process. Initially, there may be some swelling, redness, and tenderness around the treated area, which may last for a few days. The pigment will appear darker during the first few days and then start to lighten as the skin begins to heal. The entire lip-blushing healing process usually takes between seven to ten days.
During the healing process, you may also experience some dryness and flaking of the skin on your lips. It is essential to keep your lips moisturized during this time, and a recommended ointment or barrier cream such as Aquaphor should be applied frequently.
It is normal to experience some discomfort or sensitivity during the healing process, but this should improve as your lips continue to heal. It's important to avoid touching, rubbing, or picking at the treated area to prevent infection or irritation. The complete healing and return to normalcy can take up to a month, but the results are well worth the wait.
