HB: What treatment options do you offer for skin tightening on the body?

Skin tightening is the most common category of procedures that we treat. First, there are two groups involved: Surgical and nonsurgical.

Surgical is the classic gold standard breast lift, tummy tuck, or facelift. It is called the gold standard because it takes care of the deep tissues and also removes the excess skin. For example, a tummy tuck tightness the muscle, trim the skin and fat. it also shapes the body.

Nonsurgical is a group of energy-based devices that tighten the skin and sometimes the fascia.

For the face, ulthera (Ultrasound based) targets the deeper tissues under the facial skin. It is one treatment that takes about 45-90 min depending on the areas of the face treated.

Micro-Needling/Radiofrequency is a newer technology that targets the skin of the face and sometimes the abdomen. It delivers deep dermal energy that helps remodel collagen. The series includes 3 treatments, 20 min each.

Velashape is a combined RF/Lymphatic massage and infrared light that helps with body skin tightening, lymphatic swelling, could also help with cellulite to some degree.

HB: Who is the best candidate for each of the different types of skin tightening treatments you offer?

The best candidate for nonsurgical is someone with mild to moderate excess.  The more skin excess and laxity, the more skin excision will be needed. Sun damage is also an important factor. Thin damaged skin is harder to heal. With all these treatments we have to prep the skin before and after. Our go-to skincare line is SkinCeuticals, a scientifically advanced skincare line formulated with high concentrations of pharmaceutical-grade active ingredients. Their products are backed by scientific research to correct signs of aging and protect healthy skin to prevent future damage.

HB: Do you have a preferred method?

For Mild to moderate facial aging, I prefer a combination of botox, fillers, and micro-needling RF. For mild to moderate body laxity/excess fat, my fo to now is Vaser liposuction and skin tightening under local anesthesia. For the right patient, it works very well. Vaser liposuction uses Ultrasound in addition to regular PAL liposuction to achieve more definition and skin tightening.
