Beauty icon, actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg partnered with cosmetic behemoth Nars for a make-up collection infused with French glamor.
“Sensorial formulas and tinted innovations channel Charlotte’s signature look of smouldering eyes and fresh accents,” a press release states. “Shades, specifically developed by Charlotte herself, are modern-day odes to fantasies, family and friends — referencing memories of London and her many chapters in Paris.”
The limited-edition line features 15 products – for both casual and red-carpet looks – that reflect Gainsbourg’s minimalist yet chic make-up rudiments.
On the daily-wear side are three lip shades that offer natural, long-lasting stains as well as a hydrating gel-cream foundation that Gainsbourg helped develop to leave an I-woke-up-like-this dewy finish.
For formal occasions, the collection carries two velvet matte lip pencils in gentle rose and intense bordeaux as well as a duo of eyeshadows with creamy texture that is perfect for fingertip application.
Perhaps closest to Gainsbourg’s personal style are Kohliners in navy, gray and emerald that are easy to blend to give off a smudgy, alluring aesthetic that is undeniably French.
Heavily involved in the creation of the collection, Gainsbourg has also reinvented Nars’ signature Multiples with a Multiple Tint, whose matte-powdery formula can be used on the lips and cheeks.
Rounding up the line is a brush set – including a blending eye brush, face highlighting brush, concealer brush, face brush and eyeshadow brush – that brings professional tools to at-home preening.
Long-time admirers of each other’s work, Nars’ founder Francois Nars and Gainsbourg met at a photo shoot in New York and instantly connected. Sharing a vim and appreciation for Parisian beauty, the two have spawned a collection that as glamorous as it is simple to wear.
