Another fancy hotel opens up in Dubai this month. This one, the eagerly anticipated Ritz Carlton at the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC), officially opened its doors last week. After years of preparation and eager eyes from the city’s luxury segment, the 341-room hotel with 124 executive residences became the sixth property in the Middle East for the global luxury hotel group.

An increased number of celebrity chefs are making their way to Dubai. They’ve opened up their own restaurants and serve the best of their specialty cuisine to the many residents and visitors who come to the city with an appetite for glamorous lifestyle and refined dining. London’s Jumeirah Carlton Tower celebrated its 50th birthday this past week. Part of the Dubai-based Jumeirah Group, the Carlton Tower is located in the prestigious London neighborhood of Knightsbridge. The celebration was complete with a cake designed by renowned Pâtissier Eric Lanlard.

Currently on view at Carbon 12 Gallery in Dubai is “Eat When You Can, Sleep When You Can” the first international solo show for Philip Mueller. His works are full of vibrant colorful expression incorporating subjects from pop culture icons to Icelandic Shamans and the Adams family. The result is an authentically construed personal mythology of symbolic meanings.

The world’s tallest building still has quite a bit of room left for eager apartment dwellers. Arguably the city’s most prestigious address, apartments are now available at the Burj Khalifa for prices 40 percent less when the building opened its doors just over 10 months ago.

For China’s latest project plans are in the works to create a $1.3 billion deluxe hotel in the shape and image of Dubai’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa according to Arabian Business. The country’s most audacious project to date, Beijing has teamed up with Saudi developers to complete the building.
