Filming for the sequel to last year’s high-profile action star-packed The Expendables, directed by Sylvester Stallone, is gearing up in Bulgaria – this time with even more star power added to the already very impressive cast list.

The Independent Film Channel (IFC) will be releasing a highly anticipated documentary on indie film mogul Harvey Weinstein on Friday, Oct. 7. The film, entitled Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project, was made by Canadian filmmaker Barry Avrich, who has publicly called Weinstein “The Last Bully.”

It was announced yesterday, Sept. 27, that Latin music superstar Shakira is being awarded as the Latin Recording Academy’s 2011 Person of the Year. She is receiving the high honor in recognition of her “renowned artistic and philanthropic contributions” at a tribute dinner and celebrity concert on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

The release of George Lucas’s nine-disc set of Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray has shattered global sales records to become the format’s biggest seller ever in just its first week of release. The Nets are set to move to Brooklyn next fall and Jay-Z is on a press rampage, hoping to steal some lower Manhattan Knicks fans for his team.

Colombian musician, superstar, and philanthropist Shakira is well known for her love of soccer and will be performing live to officially open Olympiysky, the new four-billion-hryvnia (approximately $500 million) stadium in Kiev, Ukraine on Oct. 8.
