Haute Event: Nespresso Comes to South Beach…Coffee Connoisseurs Get Ready

I just returned from the French Riviera, and every time I visited a friend at home, the first thing they offered me was a Nespresso espresso. Now I understand the fascination, and all I can say is why did it take them so long to hit the American Riviera?

Mad Hatter Madness

Friday, April 16 marked the birthday party date for our local South Beach nightlife impresario, Michael Capponi (www.capponigroup.com). Each year, Capponi throws a birthday bash with a unique theme. Thomas Kramer’s (www.thomaskramer.com) waterfront estate on Star Island was transformed into ‘Alice’s Wonderland’.

The Forge Reborn

Friday evening, I entered The “new” Forge, a Miami Beach institution that has recently reopened after a massive face and body lift. Under the helm of owner Shareef Malnik, this landmark has been modernized to fit the times for 2010 and beyond.

Nachos Anyone?

Tuesday night at the new lounge, Coco de Ville in the Gansevoort South Beach (www.gansevoortmiamibeach.com), handsome Ralph Lauren (www.ralphlauren.com) model/polo player, Nacho Figueras (www.nachofigueras.com) blessed us with his presence. He was accompanied by his lovely wife, Delfina Blacquier, a former model/socialite from Buenos Aires.

Easter Weekend BBQ With A View

Easter weekend my friend, Adam Weis hosted a BBQ at his neighbor’s new four-story townhouse at the Continuum II North Tower at the edge of South Beach overlooking South Pointe. Kishan Khanna, our co-host, is a newcomer to our sunny shores originally from the Himalayas and a polo player to boot! Quite exotic origin if you ask me, and first Himalayan I have met in South Beach.

Hearts and Stars to the Rescue

This past Saturday, March 20, 2010 the Hearts and Stars Gala took place at Casa Malinka, home of George Wallner, on Hibiscus Island benefiting the Little Lighthouse Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida. It was truly a collaborative effort spearheaded by the South Beach Athletic Club, a group of 100 successful men in Miami dedicated to the local lifestyle and giving back the community to those in need.

Dr. Lenny Roudner’s Party of the Decade

Every decade, Dr. Lenny Roudner, Miami’s best breast implant doctor, throws a big bash to celebrate his practice and thank his beautiful-bosomed clients. Last Saturday marked the eve of his 2010 party. Several thousand of his closest friends, clients, celebrities, movie producers/directors and pro athletes all made their way to Dr. Roudner’s contemporary waterfront home on Hibiscus Island in Miami Beach. It was the hottest private party ticket in town with a very well-guarded door.

Center Court Soiree: Benefiting Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach County

Tuesday evening I had the pleasure of attending the Center Court Soiree benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach County. Chairpersons Jeff & Lana Dever and friends rendezvoused at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships (ITC) hospitality pavilion for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres plus mingling with some of the ATP Players.

Basketball Wives Do It For Charity

It was a night full of powerful women working together for a great cause. “Uniting Sports for Haiti” to benefit Project Medishare/University of Miami Global Institute called on big NBA spouse names like Jennifer Williams, Heather Williams, Deanna Morales, and Miami locals like Lois Benson, Brigitte Andrade, and Brigitte Britton.
