At the helm of the Brunello Cucinelli brand lie ideals about quality of construction to cater to an elegant lifestyle

As a world of consumers easily distracted by glittery things, it’s no wonder my attention instantly shifted once receiving word of the latest gem unveiled by the House of Chopard. Weighing in at a whopping 85-carats, the emerald-cut diamond marked by purity and great whiteness is rivaled only by some of the world’s biggest diamonds: the legendary Koh-I-Noor, the 105.6-carat Golconda diamond set on the crown of England, or the Regent, formerly worn by Queen Marie-Antoinette and currently preserved in the Louvre Museum.

In the 1950’s, French high jewelry house, Van Cleef & Arpels launched their renowned Zip necklace. Born of a suggestion by the Duchess of Windsor, the piece of jewelry was not only artfully crafted but also technically advanced enough to work as a functioning zipper. The Zip necklace, which is actually capable of being worn open as a necklace or zipped closed as a bracelet, quickly became an iconic part of the Van Cleef & Arpels high jewelry family.

Last night, the Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré was buzzing. The sounds that spilled over on to the posh street came from inside the Roger Vivier boutique and were courtesy of actress and musician Jeanne Marine who played her ukulele for a crowd of well-heeled fashion types. The occasion, however, is most of note. Attendants were present to celebrate the exclusive preview of the brand’s newest limited edition collection, Rendez-Vous. And by attendants, I mean everyone from Tod’s Group president, Stefano Sincini, Roger Vivier-brand ambassador, Ines de la Fressange, and the house’s creative director, Bruno Friso

The haute couture presentations tell a story of greatness, both of quality of construction and innovation of design. This story seems to best be told in the confines of a Parisian backdrop. And so, I crossed the pond to bring you the highlights of what’s to come from the world’s most prestigious fashion and high-jewelry houses. Expect imagery and details marking the magic behind it all throughout the week, but here’s a small tidbit to satiate your thirst for all things haute couture in the mean time.

As Palm Beach gears up to celebrate its hundredth birthday, Haute Living made the trip up North to get the scoop on how the glitzy island plans to fête the occasion. Of course it’s only fitting that I’d gather my information from the very best sources, so I caught up with Shamin Abas and David Sabin, of Shamin Abas Public Relations to take the stroll down Worth Avenue and talk aging with grace. From posh nightclubs to restaurants that fall amongst the upper echelon of east-coast dining options, Seth Greenberg’s had a hand in it all. Most recently, he’s turned his attention to 1500 Degrees; a steakhouse-cum-farmhouse concept nestled in Miami Beach’s Eden Roc hotel, just past the Peter Tunney-lined wall that Greenberg calls the “silent corridor.”

To hear of a new release out of the gilded doors of the house of Fendi that didn’t either push the envelope or absolutely reinvent it would be almost categorically unheard of. The brand, which stands strong on a foundation cemented in originality, creativity and reinvention, always has something new up its perfectly tailored sleeve.
