HAUTE EVENTS: SUMMER POOL PARTIES AT SKYBAR

For years The Mondrian Hotel has been known for Skybar, its open, poolside venue with a breathtaking view of the LA cityscape. The outdoor pool, deck, and bar space hosts parties in the day and night, sometimes for guests and sometimes for private groups. Skybar never discriminates. Each event has its own personality, atmosphere, and […]

HAUTE VENUE: MORRISON ROOM ON SUNSET

Adam Newton already manages a famous LA venue, Duke’s on Sunset, but now he brings us another. Morrison Room, the new private event space just above Duke’s, gets its name and notoriety from Jim Morrison, who apparently used to live there. The small flat consists of one open room with a balcony overlooking Sunset Boulevard […]

In light of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Peninsula Hotels has launched HOPE for JAPAN, a haute fundraising effort that involves each Peninsula across the U.S. and Asia. Hautels: La Costa Resort’s $50 Million Renovation

The haute spots of San Deigo represent relaxation in its purest form, but few can match Carlsbad’s La Costa Resort and Spa. Since 1965, the resort has offered the best of all of the elements of the perfect getaway; oversized suites, fine dining, a golf and tennis club, and the spa (which is arguably one of the top five in the US), make up what has become known as “The Legendary La Costa Lifestyle.”

Haute Spot: The Belasco Theater Opens in Downtown Los Angeles

The most recent phenomenon of downtown Los Angeles’ urban renaissance happened on Saturday: The Belasco Theater opened its doors with the sounds of the internationally respected DJ, deadmau5, spinning Unhooked for L.A.’s coolest crowd. Those with a love of electronic music or even those with a basic respect for the art of DJing understand the significance of such an event, but what’s even hauter is the venue itself.

Haute Event: GOOD LA Throws Fundraising Party at Atwater Crossing

Recognizing how “good” this was for the city, Good LA decided to help CicLAvia raise money to keep closing the streets by throwing them a party at Atwater Crossing, a haute new social and creative center in Atwater Village. Atwater Crossing brings together artisanal manufacturing facilities, creative offices, locations for photo and film shoots, theaters, and a yoga studio and gym into a space that will foster creativity within the community. Later this year, a restaurant, the ATX Eatery, will be added to the complex. The ATX Eatery will boast a menu made up of the highest quality ingredients and fresh produce pulled from the onsite linear farm, as well as live jazz and other performances.

Haute Dining: Public Kitchen & Bar Opens at Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel

Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel has been a staple of the city since 1927, attracting the industry elitist, fashionable tourists, and native Angelinos alike to its crossroad between timeless glamour and contemporary entertainment. Last week, Public Kitchen & Bar, which Thompson Hotel Group co-owner Jason Pomeranc has called “The restaurant that always should have been in the Hollywood Roosevelt,” opened ahead of its Oscar Night deadline, replacing the steakhouse Dakota with a more casual menu within the still classy setting.
