Hautels: La Costa Resort’s $50 Million Renovation

The haute spots of San Deigo represent relaxation in its purest form, but few can match Carlsbad’s La Costa Resort and Spa. Since 1965, the resort has offered the best of all of the elements of the perfect getaway; oversized suites, fine dining, a golf and tennis club, and the spa (which is arguably one of the top five in the US), make up what has become known as “The Legendary La Costa Lifestyle.”

Now it’s time for The Next La Costa. A $50 million renovation is set to transform nearly every aspect of the property. For example, the spa will now feature its own herb garden, where ingredients for the Spa Café’s dishes and the spa’s delicious menu of treatments will be grown on site and organically. Winding through the herb garden will be a new reflexology path constructed with smooth pebbles and beach stones like those used in the traditional Chinese method. The spa is also adding amble social spaces to accommodate larger group that want to seek treatment together.

In addition, innovative golf designers Damian Pascuzzo and Steve Pate will expand upon the original layout of the resort’s golf course with a new 36-hole structure that will incorporate more natural landscapes and diversity of elevation. The Athletic club is gaining a multipurpose sport court, new state of the art equipment, and will feature views of the golf course, a café (with cocktails), fire pits, and pool.

The list of improvements goes on to include changes to the tennis club, interior design of the suites, a new lobby lounge and more. The once stellar resort property is simply outdoing itself, but by the end of the year, the result will be an array of getaway treats for SoCal residents to relish in.
