Google Co-founder Sergey Brin makes Generous Donation
Sergey Brin is the co-founder of Google, and he is proving, yet again, that he is truly a generous genius.
Brin and his wife, Anne Wojcicki, have just announced that they will be donating $1 million to the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, an organization which helped Brin’s own family when he was a young boy coming from the Soviet Union. The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society provides protection and assistance to refugee populations around the world as well as offering crucial information, training, and expert advice on immigration laws.
Despite their estimated worth of $16 billion, Brin and his wife are certainly no strangers to sharing their wealth. Citing Bill Gates’ and his research-heavy philanthropic model as their inspiration, thus far the couple has given away $30 million to various charitable organizations, including the Michael J. Fox Foundation and other research organizations.
The most recent $1 million donation will be used for a variety of purposes including supporting advocacy on immigration policy for the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. The Brin family came to the United States 30 years ago and received valuable guidance from the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society who assisted the family with tasks such as getting visas, tickets, and money. Now with Brin’s obvious achievements, he is paying back the society who can be attributed to at least some extent of his renowned success and wealth.
