Dallas Symphony Orchestra Gala at the Meyerson

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra kicked off their Texas Instruments 2010 Classical Season Saturday night at the Meyerson with their annual fundraiser gala to benefit the Dallas Orchestra. The black tie event was hosted by co-chairs Todd Fiscus and Barbara Daseke, who took this year’s theme “Of Life and Love” and transformed the lobby of the symphony center into Beethoven’s enchanted garden, complete with large floral arrangements and a Life, Love and Luxury raffle with prizes from Montblanc and The Ritz-Carlton. This year marked the tenth consecutive year AT&T sponsored the event, and Chairman and CEO of AT&T Randall Stephenson and wife Lenise served as Honorary Gala Chairs.

Internationally-acclaimed pianist Jeffrey Kahane was meant to perform Beethoven’s Third Symphony, but instead the symphony performed Beethoven’s Fifth, sans piano. The after-party was held in the lobby, where guests sampled hors d’oeuvres and champagne and took home some prizes fom the raffle.

The DSO’s Beethoven Festival, held September 9th through the 26th, will feature Music Director Jaap van Zweden along with renowned guest soloists, to showcase a wide variety of Beethoven’s piano concertos and symphonies.
