Louis Vuitton’s Damier Print Transcends Into A New Fine Jewelry Collection
The signature Damier motif, which has adorned Louis Vuitton trunks and luggage for over a century, has transcended time, taking on a new form in fine jewelry through the new Le Damier collection. Including stackable rings and everyday bracelets, it presents twelve contemporary designs that evoke a timeless feeling. For Francesca Amfitheatrof, the artistic director of Louis Vuitton Watches & Jewelry, “Le Damier de Louis Vuitton is the creation of a new era, a modern collection designed to last forever.”
In 1888, Louis Vuitton and his son Georges created the Damier as a distinctive signature for the Maison, setting it apart from competitors. Inspired by its creation year and the symbolism of the number eight, the pattern came to represent infinity and timelessness. Initially adorning trunks and luggage, the Damier became a powerful symbol of originality and authenticity—values that have driven its evolution.
Now, the iconic Damier pattern finds new life in a collection of luxurious jewels crafted in yellow or white gold. Featuring gold squares and diamonds, the design reinterprets the classic motif with a modern, tactile twist. Amfitheatrof describes the collection as “a diamond collection that is not just about the stones but the pattern they create.” Each piece exudes sophistication, fluidity, and sensuality, designed to feel like a second skin.
The collection’s centerpiece is a versatile ring available in different widths, offering endless possibilities for stacking and styling. Inspired by the classic design, a reimagined tennis bracelet adds casual luxury. With 12 exquisite pieces, Le Damier is a timeless, unisex collection that embodies modern elegance and pays homage to Louis Vuitton’s enduring legacy.
