Beau Mirchoff always knew he wanted to be an actor. Born in Seattle, Washington and raised on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Mirchoff started his training as an actor at just thirteen years old. To hone his craft, he faithfully took a two-hour ferry ride each week to the mainland in British Columbia for acting classes. In 2009 he made the decision to move to Los Angeles to further his career, where he began training at the Michael Woolson Studio, an activity he still enjoys to this day. That same year, he landed the coveted role of Danny Bolen on ABC’s Desperate Housewives and quickly made a name for himself with his memorable performance and striking good looks.

He is perhaps best known for his role as heartthrob Matty McKibben on MTV’s #1 scripted and critically-acclaimed show, Awkward, though you can currently see him heating up the big screen in the current Flatliners reboot, alongside Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev and Kiefer Sutherland, playing Brad, part of a gang of medical students who, curious about what lies beyond the realm of the living, conduct secret experiments that produce near-death experiences. The film will hit theaters September 29th.

Here, Mirchoff shares his haute secrets to the City of Angels.
