Cultivar Wine Bar Announces Exciting New Fitness Program

Fitness program and wine bar aren’t exactly two things that would normally be associated together. However, at the relatively new Marina wine bar, Cultivar, the team is proving that one can detox and retox all in the matter of a few hours. Cultivar has just announced Detox/Retox a new experience that takes place on the first Wednesday of every month. Here’s how it works: at 4 p.m., fitness enthusiasts are invited to meet at Cultivar on Chestnut Street. Expert trainer Michaela Burns, of City Move’n Fitness, will be ready and waiting to take the group on an hour-long workout routine.

It starts with a quick run to the picturesque Palace of Fine Arts, which is only a few blocks away from the wine bar. On the cement steps and grassy knolls of the SF landmark, Burns will guide you through a series of sprints, squats, lunges, burpees, and other exercises to increase heart rate and work up a sweat. Burns is encouraging, well-informed on the proper techniques for everything from mountain climbers to side shuffles, and incredibly fit. She’s also friendly and down to earth—all important qualities in a good trainer. Just when you think you can’t take one more pushup, the workout is over and it’s a race back to Cultivar.

That’s the detox portion of the afternoon, now comes the retox! An assortment of snacks—a veggie platter, creamy hummus, gooey grilled cheese sandwiches, etc.—await you at the wine bar. Indulge in a refreshing flight of Culitvar’s current releases of rosé, Sauvignon Blanc or Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s an excellent way to spend an afternoon and makes an ideal excursion for a women’s league, office team-bonding experience, or other active group of people who want to workout and taste wine together all in the same afternoon.
