Miami’s Best Date Night Spots for Sushi

From South Miami to Wynwood, to Miami Beach and Bal Harbour, we are lucky enough to have a plethora of the best of the best restaurants to choose from at all times. With new ones popping up all throughout the city, it’s hard to keep up especially as some of Miami’s best are a little more hiding in plain sight. That’s what makes these perfect date spots; not only are they great, but they’ll make you seem rather in the know. So take your date to some of these gems, which rank at the top in great food and offer up something different.

Tucked away in the back of Wynwood Yard lies some of Miami’s best sushi. One may not think that a food truck is capable of serving the premium grade fish that easily surpasses Miami’s most renowned Japanese spots–but don’t be fooled by its appearance–this sushi truck’s omakase will treat you to an unforgettable experience that will have you begging for more. What began as a pop-up a little over one year ago, has now become the Miami spot for an authentic omakase experience. It is comparable to New York City’s greatest—which makes sense considering it is run by the brilliant combination of Chef Kazuo Yoshida from New York’s legendary 1 or 8 in Williamsburg and Jake Smith, a New York restauranteur. Aside from the incredible culinary adventure, the hip and funky atmosphere of Wynwood Yard lends itself as the perfect date night spot. Dinner runs at $40 for 7 pieces or $60 for 10 pieces–we recommend the $60 meal, with a few add-ons at the end (standing Chef Ryo Kato has some tricks up his sleeve).

Sushi Garage

This newly-opened Sunset Harbour hotspot has been drawing in Miami’s sushi-lovers since its debut in April. While it may not be exactly a secret, as the popular restaurant is situated in a former auto body shop with big glass doors for all to see, it definitely takes the prize for one of the coolest atmospheres in Miami, dubbing it a home-run date night choice. Sushi Garage has a dark, Japanese-inspired vibe, with wood furnishings and soft green design touches along with koi fish structures dangling from the ceiling, making both the incredible Japanese cuisine prepared by Chef Sunny Oh and the restaurant itself one of Miami’s most Instagram-able spots. We suggest ordering some of the specialty nigri like Wagyu Black-Garlic, Tuna Soy Salt and King Crab Yuzu Chili with micro basil and lime.

Sushi Bar at the St. Regis Bal Harbour

The stately St. Regis Bal Harbour resort is famous for its traditions, stunningly opulent decor and five-star amenities. However, one of the hotel’s hidden gems is its St. Regis Bar & Sushi Lounge, which serves some of Miami’s best sushi in an atmosphere that can’t be beat. With jazzy entertainment and a dark, sexy environment, it is a must-try spot to take your date on a very special night. The dining concept was created by Miami influencer, Jillian Jacobson, and its result is truly impeccable. For something to surely impress your date, order our favorites like the Rock Crab Roll with curry, rock shrimp and green soy paper, or the Land & Sea Roll that features a remarkable combo of Wagyu beef, Alaskan King Crab and a pop of truffle.

Beach Bar at Newport Pier

While definitely more under-the-radar than some of the others, the Beach Bar at Newport Pier in Sunny Isles has a new “Sake Sushi Thursdays” special that offers great sushi, an unbeatable view, and all-you-can-eat sushi. Does it get much better? For a $50 purchase or more of select bottles of liquor, champagne or sake, guests can enjoy an unlimited selection of the restaurant’s classic sushi rolls, select creative rolls, seaweed salad and miso soup. FYI–it’s the only pier that exists in Miami, so you can guarantee no one is enjoying their sushi with a more romantic sunset view than this one.
