Inside the Woody Allen Premiere for ‘Cafe Society’
The Cinema Society, along with Amazon and Lionsgate, hosted the New York premiere of Woody Allen’s “Café Society” last week. Of course, Woody attended and even went to the after-party bash at the Carlyle!
The movie, which opened the Cannes Film Festival this year, stars Kristin Stewart, Blake Lively, and Jesse Eisenberg. Set in the 1930s, Cafe Society follows the travails of Bobbie, played by Eisenberg, as he navigates his way between Depression-era Hollywood and New York. A.O. Scott, writing in the New York Times, said the that the movie’s “dominant conceit is Mr. Allen’s well-documented ambivalence about California and the industry that has often seemed ambivalent about him.” There’s a complicated romance too (what would an Allen film be without it?) with Eisenberg’s love interests played out in the characters of Vonnie (Stewart) and Veronica (Lively).
So who turned up for the fete?
From the film: In addition to Allen, Kristen Stewart, Blake Lively, Parker Posey, Stephen Kunken, Kat Edmonson, producers Letty Aronson and Edward Walson; co-Producer Helen Robin; executive producers Erika Aronson and Adam B.
