Haute 100: Kevin Maloney Providing Temp Space To Hauser and Wirth Gallery

International art gallery Hauser and Wirth has announced it will be temporarily relocating to Property Markets Group’s West 22nd Street building. The world-renowned art gallery has signed a lease for 38,000 square feet.

Hauser and Wirth is slated to move into the building this fall and will reside there for roughly two years with an option for a six-month extension at a price of $3.8 million a year. Currently, the gallery is located at 511 West 18th Street. It has plans to construct a five-story, 32,000-square-foot building designed by Annabelle Selldorf.

“We are pleased that such an important gallery will be located in our building,” PMG founder and Haute 100 lister Kevin Maloney said in a statement. “The two Dan Flavins in the stairwell which are on loan to us are constant reminders of the building’s important heritage in the art world.”

For those of you unfamiliar with the gallery, it is devoted to contemporary and modern art, founded in Switzerland by Iwan and Manuela Wirth and Ursula Hauser in 1992. Current exhibitions include Radić Pavilion (at the Somerset, England location), Revolution in the Making: Abstract Sculpture by Women, 1947 – 2016 ( at the Los Angeles location), Fausto Melotti Curated by Douglas Fogle (at the New York 69^th street location), Philip Guston Painter, 1957 – 1967 (at the new York 18^th street location). As for the Property Markets Group, whose collection includes a slew of properties throughout New York City, Chicago, Miami and more, 111 West 57^th Street will soon take it place in the New York City skyline. Centered on Central Park, the modern tower designed is SHoP architects. Rising over 1,400 feet, the project’s design featuring a curtain wall wrapped in terra cotta, glass, and bronze filigree will feature 46 full floor and duplex apartments designed by world renowned Studio Sofield.
