It was a good week to be British in New York (but, then, isn’t it always?).
Firs there was the Met Costume Institute gala and exhibit—spearheaded by UK talents like Met CEO Thomas Campbell, chief curator Andrew Bolton, Apple’s design chief Jonathan Ive, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
Then Glenda Bailey, also originally from England, celebrated 15 years at the helm of Harper’s Bazaar.
So with Manhattan in a swoon once again for all things Britannic, it made sense for Burberry’s, the famed UK label, to celebrate its, well, British-ness, which it did with a fabulous bash to toast the brand’s recently opened SoHo store and latest collections.
The event, hosted by Burberry Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Bailey, drew over 110 style mavens including Claire Danes, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Lily Collins, Hugh Dancy, Naomi Campbell, Alex Sharp, Luka Sabbat, Mario Testino, Alexander Gilkes, Zanna Rassi, Mazdack Rassi, Pippa Cohen, Luke Parker Bowles, Zane Lowe, Antonia Romeo, Markus Anderson and Mila De Wit. British DJ Jamie Burke played a live set during the party, where a display of Burberry’s most recent men’s and women’s runway collections, as well as a selection of recently restored original Burberry trench coats, served as chic backdrop.
The in-store event took place the night following the Met gala, where Bailey hosted the Burberry table with guests Blake Lively, Naomi Watts, Naomie Harris, Edie Campbell, Ben Whishaw, Mario Testino and Ben Watts.
