Haute 100: Tesla Motors to Reveal Model 3 This Month

The newest Tesla Motors vehicle is slated to be shown to the public in just a few short weeks. According to the Tesla Motors Club, the enthusiasts and owners forum, the company will be previewing the forthcoming Tesla Model 3.

On the forum there was a note posted and it reads, “We are excited to announce that the Model 3 unveiling will take place on the evening of Thursday, March 31^st in Southern California. As a reminder, you are permitted to bring one guest to the event and are responsible for the cost of travel, lodging and other incidentals. For travel coordination, the closet airport to the event is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).”

The last vehicle to debut from Tesla Motors was the Model X SUV. The Model X featured all-wheel drive and the option of a 60 or 85 kWh battery. Its performance version accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds, which made it one of the faster vehicles on the market. The Functional Falcon Wing rear doors fold up and out of the way to allow easy access to third row seats. In addition, the 17”, touchscreen in-dash display includes driver controls, vehicle apps, web connectivity and onboard charging.

Most recently, Haute 100 lister Elon Musk’s SpaceX attempted to launch yet another rocket. However, the company failed to successfully land a Falcon 9 rocket on a drone ship Friday night. This was SpaceX’s fourth attempt to land the Falcon 9 post-launch on a floating drone ship in the ocean.

The Falcon 9’s target, however, was achieved. Musk Tweeted, “Target altitude of 40,600 km achieved. Thanks @SES_Satellites for riding on Falcon 9! Looking forward to future missions.”

Musk also admitted via Twitter that he did not expect this launch to work. He Tweeted, “Rocket landed hard on the droneship. Didn’t expect this one to work (v hot reentry), but next flight has a good chance.”

The rocket launched on Friday, March 4^th from Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 6.35pm ET.
