MIA: Have a Ball at Miguel Cabrera’s ‘The Miggy Ball’
Thursday, January 28th, fans of Detroit Tigers MVP, Triple Crown Winner, and former Miami Marlins player Miguel Cabrera, will get a chance to get up close and personal with the slugger as he hosts his very own gala, cleverly titled “The Miggy Ball.” The gala will take place in the Carnival Tower of the Adrienne Arsht Center of the Performing Arts at The Café at Books & Books.
Proceeds will go towards Cabrera and his wife, Rosangel Cabrera’s, charity: The Miguel Cabrera Foundation. Their foundation uses funds they’ve raised to renovate and revamp youth baseball fields in Detroit, Miami, and Cabrera’s native country of Venezuela. The Miguel Cabrera Foundation also provides money for academic scholarships.
James Beard winner, Chef Allen, of The Café at Books & Books, will host the event’s cocktail party – which will feature a complimentary open bar for guests to enjoy. Attendees will be treated to an intimate and exclusive private concert by a surprise Latin Grammy Winning Latin Duo. About The Miguel Cabrera Foundation
The Miguel Cabrera Foundation was founded on Miguel’s belief that we can achieve great things when we: WORK HARD, DREAM BIG, AND HELP OTHERS. Miguel’s philosophy was shaped by being the only contemporary baseball player to achieve MLB’s prestigious Triple Crown, a recognition that truly awards a transformational player. Miguel Cabrera’s dream of becoming an accomplished baseball player has inspired him and his wife, Rosangel Cabrera, to focus the foundation on two specific activities: Revitalizing baseball fields in schools and neighborhoods where athletics can be used as a catalyst for student engagement and achievement and providing academic scholarships.
