Diner en Blanc has come to Dallas. Launched in Paris by François Pasquier over 27 years ago,Diner en Blanc has been held in a variety of cities around the world. In September the first Dallas Diner en Blanc was celebrated on the Continental Avenue Bridge in Downtown Dallas with over 1600 guests in attendance. The Dallas event was made possible by local sponsors Southwest Airlines, Need/Foremost, and Hilton Anatole Dallas, as well as national sponsors, Celebrity Cruises and Apothic Wine.

So, what’s so special about Diner en Blanc and why do you want to know about it now, after the fact?

By Invitation Only

Well, Diner en Blanc is an invitation-only event. If you want to go next year (and trust us you do) you’ll need to register as soon as possible so that you’ll get the information you need to get tickets. Being registered does not necessarily mean that you will be invited. Once you’ve reserved your spot you’ll have to wait patiently until you get your invitation about a couple of months before the event is scheduled. You’ll have plenty of time to add it to your schedule.

Dress in White

And it’s fun. Everyone dresses in white from head to toe and is asked to bring their own table and chairs. They create gourmet picnic baskets and beautiful centerpieces for their tables. It’s held in an unnamed location but it’s always some iconic spot. Hosts say it  can be in any public place. A street may be closed down, it could be on the steps of a building — you just never know. “It’s an uninterrupted white pop-up dinner with 1,200 of our closest friends,” said one of the hosts, Rachael Kissel.

Mystery Location

Participants don’t know where they are going until the actual day of the Diner en Blanc. If you’ve made the final invitation list you’ll receive information about where to meet others in your area to wait for a bus that will take you to the final destination. So, at roughly 5:30 PM you’ll be standing in a crowd of people all dressed in white at a rendezvous spot. Once there you’ll set up your table and chairs.

This years Diner en Blanc in Dallas ended with a spectacular fireworks display from Pyrotex. Hosts have promised that the event will be back in 2016 and be even bigger and better than this year’s event. Dinner with your partner or best friend under the bright stars of Dallas?

Yes please!
