Mourning Family Foundation Fundraiser with Louis XIII Tonight
Tonight, Louis XIII ambassador Victor Blanquart will play host to a fundraiser for the Mourning Family Foundation at Prime 112. Tickets are $5,000 per couple, and go directly to the charitable organization created by Miami philanthropists Alonzo and Tracy Mourning. The event will be an intimate, 40-person dinner, allowing for close camaraderie among the philanthropists.
The festivities will begin at 6:30pm and include a Champagne reception, a three-course dinner with Bordeaux and Burgundy red wine pairings from Rémy Martin’s portfolio, finishing with a “special moment” from Louis XIII, which is sure to involve a good deal of pouring. Of course, any moment with Louis XIII is a special one, which can run up to $3,400 a bottle. The cognac is made in Grande Champagne, in the Cognac region of France by Rémy Martin and is considered the best in the world.
“We say it’s a century in a bottle,” says Blanquart of the brandy which is immediately recognizable by its “o”-shaped Baccarat bottle. Indeed, there is a dynasty behind Louis XIII that currently rests with cellar master Baptiste Loiseau. Cellar master is quite an important position when a product calls for 1,200 eaux de vie of varying ages from 40 to 100 years in age.
The collaboration between the co-hosts- Prime 112, the Mourning Family and Louis XIII was sparked at Haute Living publisher Kamal Hotchandani’s 40th birthday. “I had the chance to meet Alonzo Mourning at Kamal’s birthday party at the Forge in April,” explains Blanquart. “When I learned about the Mourning Family Foundation, I was excited about what they are doing and happy to get involved with this exclusive fundraiser.”
We understand there are a handful of seats left to this posh affair. Reserve yours by emailing bdigss@mourningfamilyfoundation.org. Cost is $5,000 per two guests.
