Haute 100 LA Update: Mark Wahlberg Reunites With NKOTB
Prior to becoming a big shot movie star Mark Wahlberg was one of the original members of the boy band New Kids on the Block, along with his brother Donnie Wahlberg. For the first-time in 20 years, Wahlberg decided to relive his boy band days with a surprise appearance at Madison Square Garden.
The Ted 2 actor came on stage while his brother Donnie performed his 1991 hit single “Good Vibrations.”
New Kids on the Block is currently on the Main Event Tour, which feature other haute acts like Grammy award-winners TLC and Nelly as well as special guests such as 50 Cent and Biz Markie.
The Boston actor is also currently on a press run promoting the R-rated movie Ted 2, which is slated to hit theaters June 24th.
In an interview on the Today show the actor, who plays John Bennett, talked to Matt Lauer about why he decided to do the first sequel of his career and more. He said, “Obviously it was a huge success, but we felt like we could make it better than the first one and also its own story.”
In regards to Tom Brady and Deflategate, which is the alleged act that the Patriots used under-inflated footballs at the American Football Conference Championship Game in January, Wahlberg said, “I think it’s absolutely ridiculous. I think Tom Brady is the best quarterback to ever play the game.”
In 2012 Ted grossed more than $549 million in global ticket sales, making it the highest grossing film that year. It is no surprise Universal green lighted the sequel to the R-rated comedy.
