Designer John Varvatos managed to close down Melrose Avenue at Robertson on Sunday (no mean feat, to be sure) in the name of charity at his 12th annual Stuart House benefit.
The event, hosted by Chris Pine, raised $957,000 for Stuart House—the UCLA Rape Treatment Center’s internationally recognized model program serving sexually abused children.

The day treated more than 1,500 guests to an afternoon of luxury shopping, live and silent auctions, great food and fun filled children’s activities in the Hasbro Studios kids’ tent. The event’s emcee, Bill Bellamy, hosted the live auction and introduced a special live performance by Ziggy Marley; Nick Simmons and Wade Crescent served as the event’s special guest DJs.

After the star-studded red carpet arrivals Varvatos and Gail Abarbanel, the Founder and Director of Stuart House, took center stage to welcome the event’s guests, share the charity’s accomplishments and introduce Honorary Chair Pine.
“At the end of the day, all charities need funds. John Varvatos has put his might behind an important cause and I’m happy to come out and support,” said the Star Trek actor.
Seven time Grammy winner Ziggy Marley, who along with his brother Stephen, starred in the John Varvatos Spring 15 advertising campaign, performed an intimate live concert. The set featured all his classic songs including: “Give It Away”, “One Love”, “Moving Forward”, “Three Little Birds”, “Black Cat”, “Beach In Hawaii”, “Jammin”, “Conscious Party”, “Mars”, “Is This Love”, “Love Is My Religion”, “Look Who’s Dancing”, “Could You Be Love” and “Revolution”.
Attending guests of all ages at the Chrysler-presented event mingled and enjoyed the trendy food trucks In-N-Out Burger, Canvas Food Truck, Hot Dog on A Stick, Dang Brothers Pizza, snacks by Kind Bars as well as Wonderful Pistachios & Almonds and delicious homemade ice cream made right on the spot by SuperCool Creamery.
