This past weekend couldn’t have been more perfect for golf, especially the annual AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, one of the most exciting events on the PGA TOUR. Brandt Snedeker won the tournament, which ended Feb. 15, for the second time in three years and broke his own course record by two shots, finishing at 22-under 265. There was plenty of celeb spotting to be had with Clint Eastwood, chairman of the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, which puts on the event, Andy Garcia, Bill Murray, Huey Lewis, San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey and teammate Matt Cain, Kenny G, Kelly Slater, Ray Romano and Jake Owen among the participants. This year’s edition, the 30th, generated over $10 million for the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, bringing the total to more than $120 million since 1937.

First Tee Par Tee
One of the highlights of the weekend was the Inaugural First Tee Par Tee, benefitting The First Tee of Monterey County, which took place at a private Pebble Beach residence on Feb. 13. Athlete and celebrity supporters included former San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, Michael Bolton and Jim Furyk. PGA TOUR favorite Kelley James, local celebrity DJ Andrew Luce, singer-songwriter Alexandra Browne and The Money Band performed throughout the evening for a packed tent of VIP guests.
The charitable evening featured fine wines served from vintners and vineyards Cardinale, Roy Estate, Donelan, Alpha Omega, AJ Pearce, Solamente, Adobe Road and Ferguson Crest. TaylorMade Golf hosted a Golf Pro experience accompanied by Tour Pros, PGA TOUR teacher Dana Dahlquist and coaches Charles Howell III and Daniel Summerhays. Mental coach and mind “architect“ Peter Crone was on hand to educate guests about mental toughness. Guests had the chance to win 2015 TaylorMade equipment and a Lexus if they made a hole-in-one on the simulator. No guests made a hole-in-one.
Chef Adam Sobel of Mina Group, RN74 San Francisco cooked his specialty dish, Duck & Foie Gras Sausage. In addition to his dish, there were passed appetizers donated by Affina, a high-end lobster taco stand, a build-your-own slider stand and a gourmet menu for all partygoers.
Proceeds from the event benefit The First Tee of Monterey County, whose mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
