Bastille Day is the name given in English speaking countries to the French National Day, which is celebrated on 14 July each year. This national holiday is one that is beloved by Francophiles all around the country. Here’s where you should celebrate in the City of Angels.

“Storm” the Cannon Gardens with an all-day family-friendly celebration at Thomas Keller’s Beverly Hills hot spot. In addition to the $2 all-day oysters that will be served, the eatery is serving up a special “Bistro Brunch” that includes” Saucisson a l’ail—Grilled garlic sausage with forest mushrooms & toasted baguette cooked in the staub, Galette de Crabe—Dungeness crab crepe with spinach, poached hen egg & sauce hollandaise and Gaufres—Sourdough waffles with macerated stone fruit & Chantilly. Bouchon is also serving up dinner specials in the form of Tart Flambe, Tart Tropezienne, Bouillabaisse and Bavette a la bordelaise— Skirt steak with caramelized shallots and red wine jus.

Sunday Supper at Lucques is even more impressive on Bastille Day. Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne’s carefully curated menu contains items like pissaladière—caramelized onion tart with gruyère, fig anchoïade, walnuts and dandelion, bouillabaisse with monkfish, mussels, fingerlings and rouille toast or Niman Ranch steak frites with arugula salad, roasted shallots, béarnaise and house-made fries and a dessert of choux à la crème with cherry compote, bittersweet chocolate and toasted almonds. Noms indeed.

FRENCH TUESDAYS AT RIVIERA 31, THE SOFITEL BEVERLY HILLS French Tuesdays

French Tuesdays presents an all-day party, replete with can-can dancers and a DJ, at the Riviera 31 lounge of the Sofitel on July 13th. Get started early with games and apertifs, which are followed by music and partying until midnight.
