Yesterday, a little known horse rescue ranch in Davie, FL made the news for taking in 16 of the 21 emaciated Pasa Fino horses that were discovered living in horrible conditions and without food at a nearby farm. That ranch is Peaceful Ridge Rescue, run by Victor Cutinto and Anne Cooper. It is an amazing place that rescues and rehabilitates horses until they can be adopted to their forever homes.
“It’s going to be a lengthy process to get these horses back to the condition [to adopt them out],” says Cutino. “We need help. We need help to feed them, we need help for hay and grain, we need help for shampoo and stuff like that.”
Sure, taking on a horse is not quite as simple as adopting that cute kitten at the Humane Society fundraiser, but you’re no ordinary audience. Haute Living readers are just the kind of people these loving horses need.
And what kind of horses are they exactly? All kinds! Beautiful in side and out, rated by riding capabilities (Western, jumper, trail and “anything”), temperament (spirited, sweet etc.), color, age and health.
You may just be making an equine friend or finding a diamond in the rough, such as All My Robyns, a horse that went from a kill pen in Texas, to a show in New York state within six short weeks because of rescuers like Peaceful Ridge.
But even if you can’t take on a horse there are other ways to pitch in like donating dollars or maybe even your time. Call 954-240-6080 or visit http://peacefulridgerescue.com
