Transformers 4 Wraps Filming in Chicago

After over a month of shooting, Michael Bay and the Transformers 4 entourage seem to have finally finished up their business in the city. After a lot of speeding in cars and blowing up parts of the city, the director and crew left with a big bang. They wrapped up shooting with a huge (controlled) explosion in the Pilsen neighborhood at the abandoned Santa Fe Grain Silos. There was already explosions there earlier in the process but I guess the director felt his work wasn’t done just yet. They may have caused a lot of mayhem and shut down sections of the city, but if reports are accurate, the filming of the fourth Transformers, which stars Mark Wahlberg, has brought about $27 million dollars into the local economy. While I’m not personally a fan of Chicago becoming a “film town,” I support anything that can bring that much revenue to the city’s economy. Well, not anything, but you get the point. I don’t know when the exact release date for Transformers: Age of Extinction will be, but it will be interesting to see if we can pinpoint the exact scenes that were filmed in Chicago.
