Pamela Anderson Is Running ING NYC Marathon For Haitian Relief
Pamela Anderson is lacing up her running shoes for a good cause! The 46-year-old Baywatch star is in the midst of training—on the beach, of course—for the 26.2 mile ING New York Marathon in November.
“People think I’m crazy,” Anderson told the New York Daily News. “I like to do things that people think maybe I can’t do, and this is definitely one of those things.”
So far, Anderson has raised $500,000 on Crowdrise for Sean Penn’s J/P Haitian Relief Organization, which provides residents with new homes, health care and schooling following the country’s devastating 2010 earthquake. Initially, the foundation asked Anderson to hug runners after they crossed the Central Park finish line, but the blonde beauty suggested joining in on the athletic action.
“People do things for other people that they wouldn’t ordinarily do for themselves,” explained Anderson, who has visited Haiti twice since the disaster. “Haiti is such a magical place. It has a real special place in my heart… I have a lot of faith that I will be able to get through it. I’m committed.”
