Haute 100 Update Miami: Robert Wennett’s ACE Team Wins MB Convention Center Bid
Miami Beach City Commission has picked the South Beach ACE team, comprised of an all-star team of local and international architects and developers. The team includes Dutch architect Rem Koohaas, landscape architect Raymond Jungles, Dan Tishman, who has worked on a slew of huge projects including the Javits Center and the Intercontinental in Times Square and hip local developer responsible for 1111 Lincoln, Robert Wennett. While the plans are now proposed to be scaled down from what was originally shown, it is still one of the largest, and most closely watched urban redevelopment projects in the country. The project will have a final green light when the citizens of Miami Beach hopefully vote in its favor in November. The transformative project, which takes the old convention center and its oceans of pavement and turns it into compelling green space, a hotel, residential units, and a sparkling new convention center which has already drawn interest from high-end conventions that the old center was not attracting.
