Haute 100 Update: Helio Castroneves Takes Third Place At Honda Indy Grand Prix
Helio Castroneves came in third place in the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama on Thursday. Castroneves, who led the race through 60 laps with Scott Dixon in second, was overtook by Ryan Hunter-Reay, reigning IZOD IndyCar Series champion on lap 76 of 90, who eventually won the race. Hunter-Reay was following shortly behind on 74 (.3558 of a second) leading him to finally make the pass in Turn 5 of Lap 76.
“I was driving my tail off trying to stay in front of Dixon,” said Hunter-Reay, whose tired reportedly caused smoke to kick up on the track when he passed Castroneves.
