Hollywood actress Julia Roberts received an award for her eco-accomplishments on May 18 at Heal the Bay’s annual Bring Back the Beach gala and awards dinner in Santa Monica, California. Honorees at the event included Roberts and her husband Danny Moder, actress Amy Smart and past president and chief operating officer of Hilton Hotels Matt Hart.

At the event, funds were raised to help promote awareness for the local environmental cause. Roberts discussed the involvement her and her husband have with Heal the Bay and their connection to the ocean. Heal the Bay was founded more than 25 years ago by Los Angeles residents who wanted to clean up the Santa Monica Bay and protect the marine life that lives there.

Attendees included Bring Back the Beach Board members Amy Smart, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sharon Lawrence, Brad Hall, David Charvet, Rachelle Lefevre, Abigail Spencer and environmentalist/actor Peter Fonda.

Honoree Julia Roberts was almost a no show due to work schedule-but came through for the cause and joined co-honoree, husband Danny Moder to discuss the couple’s involvement with Heal the Bay and their connection to the ocean.
