The San Francisco Symphony is celebrating its 100th Birthday this week with a star-studded gala performance and free outdoor concert for the public.

The symphony is set to kick off its centennial season Wednesday with a gala performance, featuring pianist Lang Lang and violinist Itzhak Perlman and conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas.

The celebration continues Thursday with a free outdoor concert open to the public at San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza, organizers said.

The event begins at 11:30 a.m. and the concert starts at noon. The afternoon event will feature musical surprises, treats, and activities, according to organizers.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch or buy food from Off the Grid food trucks, which will be at the plaza.
