On Saturday, April 9 a special event was held at the Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club in Boca Raton that raised more than $90,000, the evenings proceeds benefited R.O.C.K., Reaching Out to Cancer Kids, a program helping children who are battling cancer.

The American Cancer Society was implemented in 1913 by fifteen physicians and business men in New York City.  Now a nationwide organization with its headquarters based in Atlanta, Georgia; The American Cancer Society has grown to 12 chartered divisions and more than 900 local offices nationally.

Chairs of this local organization, Karen Lynne Aasher and Jamie Telchin welcomed guests into the ‘love’ for cancer survivors gala.  This event was tastefully themed as an Italian-style gala.  During the event, two brave little survivors Brianna Curry and Joseph Matuella engaged the audience of more than 250 guests in tales from their week at R.O.C.K. Camp.  Briana and Joseph’s Mothers’ also gave a moving speech before moving to a lighter note of dinner, dancing and silent auctions.

Guests’ heard comments from the evenings host from CBS 12 local news channel, Liz Quirantes; while busting a move and listening to the tunes of Bob Puccetti and Danielle Fleischer accompanied by vocalist Lou Galterio.

Some sponsors of the evenings gala were the Kazma Family Foundation, U.S. Instillation Group, Inc. and VISTA BMW of Pompano Beach.
