Meritage at the Claremont: The Defining Factor
Making your mark in the hotel industry can be challenging, and some hotels are stepping up their game by incorporating unique factors that make them stand out from the crowd. The Claremont Hotel’s new onsite restaurant in Berkeley, California has done just that.
The Claremont Hotel in Berkeley, California, has just opened a new restaurant to coincide with its recent renovations. Attempting to differentiate itself from the many other hotels and hotel restaurants locally, the Meritage at the Claremont, which is in the space that used to house Jordan’s restaurant, has come up with a defining factor that makes it appeal to guests in a way other restaurant’s may be missing.
Meritage at the Claremont is a similar concept to the restaurants of the same name in Boston and New Orleans; however this Meritage restaurant features a unique menu that is broken down first by wine categories, then by food that pairs with each wine. This clever tactic means diners won’t have to fuss over what wine goes best with what dish—its already indicated for them.
The executive chef at Meritage at the Claremont is Chef Josh Thomsen, who has previously worked at renowned places such as Michael Mina’s Nobhill Tavern in Las Vegas.
