On Memorial Day Weekend, Haute 100-lister and nightlife aficionado Michael Capponi celebrated his 45th birthday with the unveiling of the newly-renovated El San Juan Hotel located in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico. The iconic property has been revamped after undergoing a stunning $60M  renovation by Jeffrey Beers International, now boasting an 11,000 square-foot grand ballroom space; four pools with panoramic ocean views; award-winning restaurants including Caña, Aquarelle, Meat Market, Marea and Napole Trattoria; 15 active bars; the island’s top nightclub Brava; and an impressive 12 acres on the pristine Isla Verde Beach.

Upon waking up on Saturday morning, guests were treated to yoga classes right near the historic 300-year-old Bayan tree, taking place on the scenic rooftop of the fitness center. After some unwinding and relaxation, the official party got underway in the evening taking place in the legendary El San Juan Hotel lobby were you could find notables like boxer Andre Berto, and Bravo’s New York Housewife Carole Radziwill and boyfriend Adam Kenworthy sipping drinks, while musician-actor Jencarlos Canela worked the room to the sounds of the El SanJuan Big Band directed by Grammy Nominee Charlie Sepulveda and Billboard nominee La Tribu Abrante. Later in the evening, the elegant crowd was invited to the grand opening of the hotel’s own night club, Brava, designed by Mark Lehmkul.

On Sunday, Michael Capponi opened his latest project, El San Juan Beach Club in partnership with Shimmy Floro McHough and Eric Milon, part of their latest venture, the Luna Group. The swanky, St. Barths-style pool party swayed to the sounds of DJ Ivan Robles and Miami’s own DJ Arlette where guests were able to enjoy poolside cocktails and the beautiful weather as they mingled throughout the brand new pool area. In the evening, guests enjoyed their final night with a sunset Memorial Day-themed white party with live music by DJ Elvis and Kalani Trinidad, closing out a very memorable weekend and a legendary opening celebration where over 800 people were in attendance.  The hotel is now open for the public just five minutes away from San Juan Airport.
