Inside the 6th Annual L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade

Some of the best chefs in Los Angeles were on hand to serve up their finest gourmet fare at the 6th annual L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade stand event.

The event was an overwhelming success, raising over $1 million for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, breaking last year’s record for the annual event by $300,000.

Located at Royce Quad on the campus of UCLA, the day was perfect for chefs and fans to come together to support childhood cancer research.

More than 2,000 people, including more than 100 chefs, mixologists and vintners attended the event. Chefs included the likes of David Lefevre, Giada de Laurentiis, Michael Cimarusti, Ben Ford, Nancy Silverton Nancy Oakes, Roy Choi and Ray Garcia. Attending celebrities included Laura Dern, Lena Dunham, Nolan Gould, Colin Hanks, Jimmy Kimmel, Jenni Konner, Timothy Olyphant, Ben Falcone, Joe Mantegna, Joel McHale, Thandie Newton and James Van Der Beek. 

After some wine sipping and food tasting, Jay and Liz Scott, Alex’s parents, and co-executive directors of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, as well as hero speaker and cancer survivor 11 year-old Samantha Hill, gave speeches highlighting the importance of how one individual can make a difference.

A dynamic live auction that raised more than $300,000, including a women’s chef dinner including Suzanne Goin, April Bloomfield, Giada De Laurentiis, Nancy Oakes and Sherry Yard totaling $150,000 (a triple winning bid of $50,000).

A pre-event raffle with Omaze for a chance to win a tickets, hang out with Timothy Olyphant and mix cocktails with Neal Bodenheimer. The auction raised more than $51,000 and was won by Flora Sanchez.

Sponsors of the event included Life is Good, Northwestern Mutual and Volvo Cars of North America.
