Galliano and Coach for London Men’s Collections

For most people the next few weeks are all about the Christmas rush. But in the London, it’s always about looking forward and the fashion calendar starts to fill up once more come the beginning of the year, kicking off with the coveted men’s collections presented in January. This year, however, marks peaked interest in these shows as two heavy-hitters confirm their attendance for the line-up.

Hot on the heels of his re-entrance back into the fashion fold at the British Fashion Awards last week, John Galliano will be showing his first couture collection for Maison Martin Margiela during the London Men’s Collections schedule for A/W 2015. It will be the first show for the designer since his dramatic and controversial exit from Dior back in 2011, and one that many will be waiting for with bated breath. Explaining the choice of the capital as the location for such a crucial collection, a statement from the brand cited the formative beginning of Galliano’s career there as well as the city’s connection with and history of tailoring.

Then there’s New York luxury fashion brand Coach, who have chosen London as the locale for their first ever menswear show. “London is the standard-bearer of classic men’s style but always encourages the next generation of talent. Though Coach is American to the core, that juxtaposition is the essence of our brand: blending the established with the cool,” commented the Executive Creative Director for the brand, Stuart Vevers. Other highlights of the shows, which will run from 9th – 12th January, include established favourites such as Burberry Prorsum, Tom Ford and Alexander McQueen, among others.
