The Florida Grand Opera has announced the feature series for its 2014-2015 season taking place at the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Opera buffs will be glad to see that this season’s shows include The Consul by Giancarlo Menotti, Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers, Mozart’s Cosí Fan Tutte and the season premier Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.

Madama Butterfly is one of the world’s most famous operas and is based on David Belsaco’s play of almost the same name, Madame Butterfly. Both the opera and the play illustrate the life and marriage of Cio-Cio-San (played by Kelly Kaduce and newcomer, Vanesa Isiguen) she waits for the return of her husband, American naval officer, B.F. Pinkerton (Martin Nusspaumer and John Pickle). Marc Astafan’s production will win audiences over with a story of tradition, romance and sacrifice.

The production will take place at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts November 15, 16, 18, 21 and 22, and also at the Broward center for the Performing Arts December 4 and 6.
