Back to life and back to reality… well, back to Miami at least. My summer getaway here in Los Angeles is over, but itwas a great couple of months full of parties, dinners, celebrations, and catching up with my friends on the West Coast. There was even a wedding! For me, LA is a break from my hectic schedule. It allows me to reevaluate my business, and be inspired by meeting new people and seeing new things. It also helps me to come up with new ideas and designs for my next collection of handbags, accessories, jewelry and skincare products. I am looking forward to sharing them with you over the next couple of months in boutiques, blogs and on my website www.theworldofleablack.com.

Every year, Miami’s top philanthropists, business leaders, celebrities, members of the law fraternity, and donors gather to raise money for The Black’s Annual Gala / The Consequences Charity, a 501c3 non-profit organization that benefits Teach for America, Breakthrough Miami and other organizations. As of August 2013, Teach for America Miami-Dade provides over 300 corps members to educate, motivate and support over 22,000 children living in poverty at over 33 schools. Breakthrough Miami is an award winning organization providing tuition-free academic enrichment programs for middle-school students from underserved communities.

This year’s performer is the original Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin.  To say I am excited and honored to have her a part of our gala is an understatement! Her music and voice have inspired and motivated me throughout my life, she’s won 19 Grammy Awards, and she’s going to be at our gala. Tickets will be limited; to reserve your space for this gala concert event and support this fundraising event contact 305.443-8980 or visit the website theblacksannualgala.com. Last but not least, I’d like to thank our Honoree Steven M. Mariano and The Mariano Foundation for their generous support. See you there!
