Haute Event: Giada, Gordon Ramsay and Bobby Flay Highlight Day One of Vegas Uncork’d
Here’s a look at all that happened on day one of Vegas Uncork’d.
• Acclaimed chef Shawn McClain joined chef Pierre Gagnaire at Mandarin Oriental at Twist by Pierre Gagnaire to create signature fresh-flavor twists on classic French cuisine. Guests enjoyed a unique dinner featuring chilled pork head terrine and cured loin, mi-cuit ora king salmon and wagyu beef perfectly paired with thought-provoking wines.
• Over at Caesars Palace, foodies were wowed by Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis at their Master Series Dinner. Foodies embraced the tastes from chef Flay’s Mesa Grill and Giada, her new and inaugural restaurant at The Cromwell, which included stuffed lamb chops with walnut gremolata as well as crostino with tomato and strawberry jam, feta cheese and mint.
• In true Italian fashion, Rao’s at Caesars Palace entertained diners with a multi-course extravaganza featuring Rao’s southern Neapolitan dishes served family-style. Guests indulged in beef carpaccio and herb gnocchi alongside the Pellegrino family and Rao’s co-owner Ron Straci.
• Attendees were transported to Paris with chef Francois Payard’s esteemed pastries and savory fare at Payard Patisserie & Bistro at Caesars Palace. The award-winning French patisserie delighted guests with pan seared Alaskan halibut and short ribs à la bière.
• Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur Guy Savoy created an exclusive multi-course dinner with wine pairings at his restaurant at Caesars Palace. Six lucky diners sat at the only Krug Chef’s Table in the U.S., sipping the luxurious Krug Champagne while Chef Guy Savoy prepared a tantalizing menu of lobster in cold potage and spring colors, black pepper black cod and red beans, and artichoke and black truffle soup with toasted mushroom brioche and black truffle butter right in front of them.
• Steak connoisseurs rejoiced at Chef Greg Sherry culinary display at The Old Homestead Steakhouse at Caesars Palace. Hearty portions of timeless steakhouse-style dishes with free-flowing wines and libations.
• Master chef Nobu Matsuhisa prepared an intimate meal for fortunate guests at the famed Nobu at Caesars Palace. Diners were treated to delectable variety of flavorful Asian fare including yellowtail tartare and Chilean sea bass while sipping exotic, freshly made cocktails.
• Chef Gordon Ramsay hosted a once-in-a-lifetime menu at Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace. Showcasing Ramsay’s signature flavors, dishes included herb Caesar salad, mini steak and ale pie and pan seared diver scallops.
• Top chefs including Mario Batali, Thomas Keller, Buddy Valastro, as well as Justin Quek and Tetsuya Wakuda from Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands came together at Doge’s Palace at Venetian to put on a true market experience with Asian-inspired dishes and drinks. Asian favorites include Báhn mi, soup dumplings and spiced shrimp skewers. As the night went on, students of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Las Vegas teamed up with Buddy Valastro and Mario Batali to battle it out for tuition money during the Chase Sapphire Preferred Grill Challenge. The $20,000 grand prize scholarship went to Brooke Worley of Team Mario.
• After a full day of events, chef Mario Batali treated guests to an after-party at B&B Burger & Beer at the Venetian. Guests noshed on late-night comfort foods like gourmet burgers, house brews and boozy Averna milkshakes.
